Hi there! I’m Afoke Johnson—AJ for short—and I’m the proud founder of Ember & Elm Bookkeeping. In 2016, I graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Supply Chain Management and Accounting. Before starting Ember & Elm, I spent my career in business operations with incredible companies like LG Energy Solutions and LyondellBasell.

During that time, I was responsible for overseeing the bookkeeping process, which became more than just a task—it was a game-changer. By digging into the numbers, I uncovered where we were losing money and where we had the potential to grow.

The impact was huge: within two years, we cut unnecessary spending and increased annual revenue by $525K. That clarity turned our team from overworked and overwhelmed to focused and thriving. It’s amazing what the right financial insights can do.
